After six years teaching high-school mathematics, I'm making a deliberate move into data analytics — and the Data Analyst role at Tableau is the kind of place I want to do it. This is a planned pivot, built on a year of focused preparation, not a leap in the dark.
Teaching turned out to be excellent analyst training: I lived in spreadsheets and assessment data, A/B-tested instructional methods against test outcomes, and explained complex findings to parents and administrators who didn't speak statistics. Over the past year I've added the technical layer — completing the Google Data Analytics certificate, building SQL and Python projects on public datasets, and publishing a Tableau dashboard on district graduation trends that a local nonprofit now uses.
I bring the rigor and communication of a teacher plus a fast-growing analytics toolkit, and I'm eager to grow them on your team. Thank you for considering a slightly less conventional candidate.
